Noella Beauty Works: Shades of the Rainbow

We have returned! March makeup madness is back in full swing. This week we feature: Noella Beauty Works, which is a huge treat. Her candy colors are a perfect accessory in any girls makeup bag. These all natural, synthetic, preservative, and fragrance-free eyeshadow's are hand-mixed and custom made by the owner, Jackie. Not only did she give us insight into her business, but she gave us a peek into her studio where all of these magnificent pigments are created.

Jackie has been on Etsy for less than 6 months and she already has more than one thousand sales under her belt. That in and of itself should tell you that she has great products. Not only does she have amazing eyeshadow's BUT she has excellent customer service, with her new and repeat clients raving about both on her Facebook fan page.

We had the opportunity to learn more about Noella Beauty Works for this weeks feature. Check out our interview with Jackie, below:

When did you begin your business?

I began my business on Etsy in December of 2010, but had been selling it in my mother’s salon (without a name) for some time before that. I decided I wanted to sell on Etsy in October of 2010 and officially opened in December.

What inspired you to go into business for yourself?

I always held a part time job but on the side I was always finding ways to make money. My mom had a foyer in her salon and at age 9 I dreamed of making it into a miniature shop of my own with all my homemade goods (which hadn't actually been made yet- I dreamed those too). I played with everything from sewing to knitting to clay working and jewelry making. I then discovered that you can make your own cosmetics, which I thought was very neat because I was always very conscious about what was on my face because almost everything made me break out. I did it for myself at first but decided to try to sell it in my own basket in my Mother's salon. The great response was motivating and encouraging and made me want to expand. This is how Noella Beauty Works began.

How do you get the word out about your business?

I do as much promoting as I can, as well as participate in blog reviews and giveaways when I can. My facebook fanpage has been a wonderful promotional tool for me. I enjoy feeling connected with my fans and customers. I keep them updated and involved in the work that I do. I've also found that joining teams on Etsy is a great way to get the word out about your business if you sell there. Being active in the community and forming relationships within the teams is a lot of fun.

If you could give a piece of advice to a young aspiring female entrepreneur, what would that be?

Do what you love and find your niche. Find inspiration but be original in your work. Running your own business can be hard work sometimes, but very worth it. You’ll grow and learn so much! Having a unique product and excellent customer service will be bring you success.

That was wonderful advice for aspiring & established Chicktrepreneurs, especially if you vend on Etsy. Join the etsy groups' and network with other women! Many thanks to Jackie for an insightful interview, and awesome behind the scenes photos of her studio. Head on over to Noella Beauty Works and become a fan, after that check out these insanely vivid eyeshadow's in their Etsy shop.
