Tali's Creations: Make a statement without saying a word!

Ok so we know that there are many types and styles of jewelry. What you choose depends on your personal preference. You may like costume or fashion, stones or metal, cheap or expensive. The largest contributing factor when selecting a piece is how beautiful it is to the one wearing it. Jewelry may be given as a gift to show love or affection or personally bought to dress up and in some cases dress down an outfit. Today we feature Tali's Creations. A place for beautifully handcrafted jewelry made from high quality semi-precious stones, crystals and beads.

The creative designer behind the jewelry line is Tali Bomani. Her studio boasts earrings, bracelets, necklaces and 2 and 3 piece sets using natural stones, crystals and pearls. Tali began designing jewelry as a teenager, and briefly put her passion on hold to pursue a career in the legal field. After seeing a co-worker wearing beautiful pieces she had made herself, she was inspired to rekindle her love of jewelry making. Fast forward to present day, where she now has premium inventory for the chic woman that loves to accessorize with the finest jewelry. For all of the ladies that are engaged, she also designs a bridal line of jewelery that is sure to add style to any bridesmaid or wedding dress.

We asked Tali a few questions about the ins and outs of her business, read below for our interview with the creator of Tali's Creations.

When did you begin your business?

I started my business in October of 2007.

What inspired you to go into business for yourself?

I had no intention of starting a business, especially not at the age I started one (early 50s).  I had a co-worker who wore beautiful jewelry.  I complimented her on her pieces and she told me that she made her jewelry herself.  I was intrigued, and decided that I wanted to try making some jewelry for myself.  She instructed me on what tools and materials I needed to get started and was also gracious enough to give me a couple of quick tutorials.  To make a very long story short, it wasn’t long before my talents had surpassed those of my teacher’s.  I seemed to have a natural talent for not only making jewelry but for coming up with unique designs.

I started wearing my jewelry and friends and relatives complimented me on it and told me that I should make jewelry to sell.  At first I really didn’t give it serious consideration, but I couldn’t deny the fact that I simply loved making jewelry.  I would certainly get to spend more time doing this thing that I loved if I made jewelry for other people as well as for myself.  So, after careful consideration and a ton of research, I opened up shop.

How do you get the word out about your business?

I have tried many things and I’m continuing to work on it.  I use social media, such as Twitter and Facebook.  I have two blogs (because Google loves blogs).  I have run ads on both Google and Facebook.  Because networking is so important, I am the member of several Facebook groups and artist guilds.  In my artist guilds, we promote ourselves and each other.  I also attend shows and other vending events, and have jewelry parties.

If you could give a piece of advice to a young aspiring female entrepreneur, what would that be?

Thoroughly research anything that you’re thinking about doing.  Do internet research, read books, articles and magazines and, if you can, talk to people who are already doing what you want to do.  Don’t go into anything with your eyes wide shut.

What are 3-5 fun facts about you or your business?

I hate Facebook, and if I didn’t need it for exposure and networking, I would never use it.

I’m always amazed that I spend more time working on the business end of my business than on actually creating new pieces.

I am not a people person, and I’m rather shy.  So having to meet so many people and promote myself and my jewelry, takes me way out of my comfort zone.  But, I’m adjusting because it’s necessary.

I’m proud of the fact that even though I started my business just as the economy was collapsing, I didn’t give up.
